In the girls’ standings England 2 finished first, with England 1 as runners up and in the boys’ England 2 remained undefeated to win their crown and Wales took second. 

On hand to present the medals was Scottish and British basketball legend Kieron Achara.

Manchester Magic and Mystics England U14 Tri-Nations Tournament 2023

Magic and Mystics selected in England U14 squads for the Tri-Nations tournament this month

Boys and girls teams will travel to Dundee to take on the other home countries – Scotland and Wales – from 26-28 May.  

Dan Petts and Ruth Eytle will lead the boys and girls respectively, as the players continue their England Talent Programme development following their recent trip to Spain for the Globasket tournament. U14 and 15s teams will also travel to Serbia this summer.

Manchester Magic and Mystics Serbia Tournament England U14 and U15 2023

Magic and Mystics selected for England’s U14 and 15 Boys and Girls squads heading to Serbia

Magic and Mystics selected for England’s U14 and 15 Boys and Girls squads heading to Serbia for the next part of their England Talent Programme (ETP) development.

The U15 Boys and Girls will travel to the Eastern European basketball hotbed for a camp and games between Monday 29th May and Thursday 1st June.

And the U14s will follow suit from Thursday 1st June to Sunday 4th June.

Squads have been named following the recent ETP selection camp and players visiting France and Spain respectively for the Lions Cup and Globasket events.

Activity at the Belgrade camp will consist of practice sessions and informal games against local opposition.

Numerous Manchester Magic and Mystics juniors have been involved in England duties over the Easter break, with Manchester Mystics’ Elizandra Costa (U16), Maisie Keyes (U16) winning the U16’s Four Nations Tournament last week (as mentioned here), this week it was the turn of the U18s, and there was also Tournaments for the U14 and U15 Boys and Girls all taking place over the course of the past week.

Manchester Magic and Mystics selected for Lions Cup and Globasket Tournament 2023

Magic and Mystics selected in England U14 and U15 squads for Lions Cup and Globasket Tournament

An England U15 Boys Select team are taking part in the Lions Cup in Paris this weekend against international opposition. 

Manchester Magic’s Luca Boothe and Dominic Goodwin were chosen from the ETP selection camp in Manchester to represent England at the Lions Cup in Paris. See below for Magic and Mystics selected in squads for U14 and U15 Boys and Girls squads for the trip to the Globasket Tournament in Costa Brava, Spain next week. 

In Paris, the England U15 Boys will be led by head coach Sterling Muschett and face a selection of club, academy and national teams between 8-10 April. 

The teams entered are: 

Group A: CTC Centre Essonne (France), Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel), Poland Select, Saint Charles Basket (France). 

Group B: England Select, JSF Nanterre (France), Union Artois Elite (France), Zaza Pachulia Academy (Georgia).

Four boys and girls teams will take part in the in the Globasket Tournament in Lloret de Mar between 10 and 14 April.

Manchester Mystics’ Mojan Malek, Jane Oboavwoduo, Tiana Walker and Anya Williams, were selected for the U14 Girls, and Sonia Matei and Irene Oboavwoduo, were selected for the U15 girls. Manchester Magic’s David Akhidime, Ege Cakmakkaya and Camran Hanson, were selected for the U14 Boys and Rufus Everatt, Jack Odongo and Ayomikun Olofintila, were selected for the U15 Boys.  

The girls will be led by Ruth Eytle (U14s) and Maialen Zilbeti (U15s), while the boys’ head coaches are Dan Petts (U14s) and Billy Beddow (U15s).

Manchester Mystics’ Maisie Keyes and Elizandra Costa helped England U16 Girls to the Four Nations title, after winning all three of their games in Ireland over the two-day tournament. Manchester Magic’s David Hewitt and Jack Walton helped England U16 Boys to Silver, losing to Ireland in overtime to miss out on the title. While Manchester Mystics’ Holly Stones impressed for Wales.

Manchester Magic and Mystics England U14 and U15 Selection Camps 2023

Magic and Mystics selected for England U14 and U15 selection camps

Congratulations to Manchester Mystics’ Mojan Malek, Jane Oboavwoduo, Tiana Walker, Anya Williams (U15), Wayet Gore, Paige Jagger, Sonia Matei, Irene Oboavwoduo (U14), and Manchester Magic’s Rufus Everatt, Dominic Goodwin, Jack Odongo, Ayomikun Olofintila (U15) David Akhidime, Luca Boothe, Ege Cakmakkaya, Camran Hanson (U14), who have all been selected for England Selection Camps ahead of a busy few months of the England Talent Programme.

Groups of U14 and U15 boys and girls have been invited to attend the camp at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester. 

From the camp, squads will be selected for a range of ETP tournaments and games across the spring and summer, with all players attending featuring in at least one squad.

Manchester Magic and Mystics Four Nations 2023

Magic and Mystics selected for Four Nations Tournament

Congratulations to Manchester Mystics’ Elizandra Costa (U16), Maisie Keyes (U16), Alexandra Hernandez (U18), and former Mystic’ Olivia Forster (U18), and Manchester Magic’s David Hewitt (U16), Jack Walton (U16) and Matthew Goodwin (U18), who have all been selected to represent England at the Four Nations Tournament in Dublin (U16s) and Cardiff (U18s) next month.  Mystics’ Holly Stones is also representing Wales (U16).

The Four Nations matches will be an opportunity for players to stake their claims for selection for the U16 and U18 Great Britain teams, though other English players not selected for these tournaments will also be in the running when those squads are chosen.
