Magic and Mystics announce first wave of Summer Camps for 2019

The Manchester Magic and Mystics have announced their first wave of summer camps for 2019.

They will cost £15 each day and will run at the Manchester Basketball Centre, from 10am to 3pm, Years 1-9.

Magic U12 Champion of Champions Champions 2019

Magic U12s Champion of Champions Tournament Champions

Manchester Magic’s junior programme has claimed another piece of silverware thanks to another stunning set of performances.

The U12s came out on top at the Champion of Champions tournament in Leeds last weekend.

They opened with a 63-8 win over Teeside Lions before completing victories over City of Leeds 1 (42-2), Oaklands Wolves 1 (38-15) and Brentwood Fire (36-16).

On day two, they recorded further wins over Oakland Wolves 1 (44-16), Manchester Giants (42-18), Spire Ballers (73-6) and Brentwood Fire (35-21) to seal the title in style.

In seven games, Magic scored 373 points and conceded just 102.

Magic’s Ollie Land was named MVP, while Ronnie Ani was voted MPP (Most Promising Player).

Samy Sidi-Boumedine, Jack Odongo and Alex McKeever also made it into the All Star team.

North West U11 Boys 2019

North West U11 boys claim regional title

The North West U11 boys put in a fighting performance in the regional tournament on Sunday (23rd June) to be crowned National champions.

There was a heavy Magic presence in the North West team they were Nathan Brown, Samy Sidi-Boumedine, Jack Odongo, Leo McGregor and Darrion Banton-Wright.

North West U11 girls dominate to claim regional title

The North West U11 girls put on a dominate performance in the regional tournament on Sunday (23rd June) to be crowned National champions.

There was a heavy Mystics presence in the North West team they were Maisie Keyes, Ruvimbo Chinamasa, Irene Oboavwoduo, Maxima Kalombo, Sonia Matei, Paige Jagger and Tallulah Connolly and coaches Joe Andrew and Marc Jagger.

Magic and Mystics selected in England U14 and U15 squads for Copenhagen Tournament – Results updated

Congratulations to Manchester Magic’s Toby Akinlade (U14) and Mystics’ Olivia Forster, Eleni Vourliotis and Josephine Vourliotis (U14) and Charli Wroe (U15) who have all been selected to represent England at the Copenhagen Invitational Basketball Tournament in Denmark on the 21st-23rd June.

The tournament comes after two intense training camps at the National Basketball Performance Centre where all the players selected for the England teams battled against each other for a spot in the final squads that are traveling to Copenhagen.

England will be taking 4 teams to the tournament, all playing in the U15 category, with the Under 15s playing as England 1 and Under 14s as England 2, where they will be playing against teams from all over the world.

2014 Haris Tournament MVP drafted to the NBA

Terance Mann, Haris Tournament MVP from Tilton Prep School in 2014 has been selected 48th in the 2019 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, becoming what is believed to be the first player to have attended the Haris Tournament to be drafted.

Mann helped Florida State University to fourth in the ACC of NCAA D1 and to the third round of the NCAA Tournament in his senior year. He played 37 games, 36 starts, averaging 31.7 minutes per game, 11.4 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game, 0.7 steals per game and 0.3 blocks per game.

Mann’s 2018-19 honours: Advocare Invitational Tournament Team, ACC All-Tournament Second Team and ACC All-Honorable Mention Team.

Mystics’ Jones selected in Great Britain’s EuroBasket final 12

Manchester Mystics’ Georgia Jones has been selected in the Great Britain Senior Women’s EuroBasket final 12. She is joined in the 12 by former Mystics’ Mollie Campbell and Hannah Shaw, while Nicolette Fong Lyew Quee is on the reserves list. The team face Canada tonight (Wednesday 19th June) at the Mystics’ home base of the National Basketball Performance Centre at 7:30pm, having won, 93-90, in a behind closed-door game last night, tickets are available on the door.

Magic and Mystics Little Grants Localgiving

Funding boost for Magic and Mystics

The Manchester Magic and Mystics has received £500 from Localgiving and Postcode Community Trust, a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

The funding boost will enable the Magic and Mystics to purchase First Aid kits for our Junior National League Teams.

Magic and Mystics’ CEO, Phil Gordos said: “The club wanted to be able to get each Junior National League their own First Aid kit so that we are well equipped when we travel to away games. This has been made possible by a grant from Localgiving and Postcode Community Trust.”

We received a Magic Little Grant through the partnership between Localgiving and the Postcode Community Trust.

The Postcode Community Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Localgiving is the UK’s leading membership and support network for local charities and community groups.
