Manchester Mystics junior programme began their pre-season on Saturday with three games at Barrow’s Hoops Centre.
The Mystics were joined by the Glasgow Lady Rocks, who travelled down for a mini-camp, and invited the Mystics Under 14 1, Mystics Under 16 Development, and Mystics Under 18 squads for a series of pre-season friendlies.
The Mystics Under 14s kicked off proceedings with an energetic performance, as they got their first run out since last season came to a close in April.
The Mystics Under 16 Development team were next to play, the squad included a number of the Mystics Under 14s. They had a good spirited fight back, following a nervy start, showing encouraging signs for the team in their first game as a group.
The final game of the day was played by the Mystics Under 18s, who closed out the afternoon with a high-octane game against a side that contained a number of senior women amongst the Glasgow team’s ranks.
In a game that would have pleased the neutral observers, the girls met the physical challenge posed by the Lady Rocks, as they maintained a furious pace.
The day overall, represented a positive start to preparations for the 2018/19 campaign, as the Mystics look to kick on from big strides made in the previous season.
