Colin Maguire – a Club Legend

It is with great sadness that we have received news of the death of Colin Maguire.

Colin has been part of the Club since we started back in 1997. In addition to supporting our Age Group programme, he has mainly been seen at the Senior Men’s games in his special seat near the door, with floor wiper in hand and ready to go.

Always with a smile on his face and immensely popular with all who knew him, he was a passionate supporter of all we do at the Club. Colin and Sandra, his wife, were early, fully deserved recipients of our Club Person of the Year Award, given out annually at the Christmas Haris Charalambous Tournament.

The Club will miss his great enthusiasm and upbeat demeanour at all times and we send our condolences to Sandra, his wife, and family.

‘We did notice his recent absence at Magic games but were unaware of the full circumstances of his health. A very sad loss. We will miss him greatly.’ said Joe Forber, a Trustee of the Club.

The Graham Williams Challenge

The Graham Williams Challenge

In honour of a great Magic coach, Graham Williams, we are hosting a Graham Williams Challenge on 29 December at our Centre. It will involve an U16 Boys Tournament between City of Birmingham Rockets, Manchester Giants and Manchester Magic.

There will be 3 full games on the day.

Graham was a Founder member of our Club in 1996 and most of his coaching was at Under 18 level, with some lower age groups towards the end of his career. He retired from active coaching with the Club a few years ago.

We would like to bring in a big crowd to support the day, particularly his many ex-players who would like to see him after so many years.

There is no charge for entry. Graham will present the trophy at the end to the winning team.
